About Vivian Clayton, PhD


Professional Experience

Dr. Clayton’s first two positions were at academic institutions, where she was hired as an assistant professor (San Francisco State University, Dept. of Psychology, and Teachers College, Columbia University, Dept. of Counseling Psychology).

After receiving her clinical license to practice psychology, positions held include:
  • ---Director, Neuropsychology Service, John Muir Medical Center
  • ---Adjunct professor at the California School of Professional Psychology
  • ---Developed mental health services at the Over 60’s Health Center in Berkeley
  • ---In private practice at the Rossmoor Medical Center 1987 – 2005
  • ---Co-author on a legal guide used by attorneys for assessing capacity and
    undue influence in the older adult (see Publications)
